Rethinking school in Cameroon: what model for tomorrow?

School shapes the future of a nation. In Cameroon, as in much of Africa, the system inherited from the colonial era raises many questions today: does it truly prepare young people for the realities of the country and the job market? Does it value local knowledge, languages and trades? Does it leave enough room for creativity and enterprise?

Several avenues are debated across the continent: introducing mother tongues in the early years, more practical and vocational teaching, a better link between school and traditional know-how, or using digital tools to reach rural areas.
