Nelson Mandela

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, “Madiba”, devoted his life to the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. Imprisoned for twenty-seven years, he never renounced his ideal of a non-racial society.

Released in 1990, a Nobel Peace laureate, he became in 1994 South Africa's first Black president, choosing reconciliation over revenge. He belongs to all of Africa and the whole world.
