Palais des rois Bamoun

Ouest

In Foumban, the palace of the Bamun sultan, founded in the 14th century by Nchare Yen, preserves one of Africa's oldest dynasties. The Kings' Museum, with its spectacular two-headed-snake and spider architecture, displays beaded thrones, weapons and the Shümom script invented by King Njoya.

A capital of the arts, Foumban brims with bronze-casters, carvers and weavers around the palace.
